DO YOU HAVE HOT LIPS? SALVIA MICROPHYLLA IS A WINNER

We found this Salvia  on our walk today. It was covered with blooms in January.  What a wonderful, happy flower for a mid-winter day.
Note to self: Get Salvia 'Hot Lips' for our cottage garden this Spring. It gets a big garden wink for blooming endlessly.

  1. No! Unfortunately David I don't have "Hot Lips" but from the look of your image I should search it out. Wonderful colorings.

  2. I've never seen that particular salvia, but gosh, it is pretty!

  3. Yes this variety and color is lovelier than our fully red. I also guess that salvia likes more cold, because ours in the tropics are so small.

  6. We grew it on a hot south facing hillside full of serpentine, and dry-dry-dry. We did water it by hand to get it started. It has flourished and is quadruple its original size! The hummingbirds frequent it too. I just planted 3 in front of my Sacramento area (zone 9) home and can hardly wait for it to mature here too. Enjoy!
