MY GARDEN POTTERY DESIGNS #4

I worked on these over Christmas break. I used blending a basic color with white, gray, and black for the first time. The designs are my own. I also learned how to texture the top edge followed by secondary brush patterns. Compared to last month, these pots are a break through for me.

I have from 2 to 8 years to work on improving the pottery. That's when I will retire from my current job and do this full time (hopefully). I never tire of painting.

DO YOU HAVE HOT LIPS? SALVIA MICROPHYLLA IS A WINNER

We found this Salvia  on our walk today. It was covered with blooms in January.  What a wonderful, happy flower for a mid-winter day.

Note to self: Get Salvia 'Hot Lips' for our cottage garden this Spring. It gets a big garden wink for blooming endlessly.

MY GARDEN POTTERY DESIGN #3

My garden pottery has moved inside due to the cold, wet weather. Here I tried to match the smooth curves of this succulent with a similar design painted on the pot.

The red rim of the floral design matches the actual plant.

I've also been working on blending colors on the rim. 

I find greens are much harder to blend together than blues.

My philosophy is to paint garden pots that I will use outside and that I can 'give away' to the weather and other outdoor elements. However, this one might stay indoors. 

  Next time I'll show you some of my blue painted pottery.
